Processing and original-file safety
A standard password-protected PDF copy is created locally with qpdf/WebAssembly using 256-bit PDF encryption.
The unprotected source stays unchanged. Store the password separately because QuickerConvert cannot recover it.
Tested limits and output tradeoffs
Enforced limits
- One PDF up to 150 MB can be opened per protection run.
- Passwords must contain at least four characters; a longer unique passphrase is strongly preferable to the minimum.
What the output may change
- Password protection is not account-based access control: anyone who receives the password can open the file.
- Viewer support and optional PDF permissions vary, so the result must be tested in the recipient's expected PDF reader.

Troubleshooting
- If qpdf cannot read an unusual source, save a fresh unencrypted PDF copy and retry.
- Test the protected output in a standard PDF reader before sending it.
- Share the password through a different channel from the protected file when the document is sensitive.
Desktop and phone notes
- The browser must support WebAssembly and the application security headers needed by qpdf.
- Protection can work on modern phones, but large PDFs are safer on a desktop with more memory.
